You always think that your ex will find someone who would erase you from her memory. That’s not so. If you’ve really been a generous, cheerful, loving, faithful, tender person, thrilled by life, she cannot forget you, nor leave you in a dark corner of the attic and close the trap.
Nobody can cook like you, or move in the shower like you, let alone walk around the flat with a toothbrush in her mouth in the way you that do, nor reveal her fragility into her eyes like you do in yours.
A t-shirt will never fit her as well as it always fitted you, her tone of voice will not evoke your secret feelings in that way, the night will be not be the same as when you closed it. And she will not look as young as you do, nor her contagious laughter could ever be the same as yours.
She will never encourage you to find out and follow your dreams, make them come true, as you did. Nor will her intelligence, nor her family be the same as yours. She’ll never know you in the same way you do.
Another person may be wonderful and special, but you are Katherine.
